Ask for details....... (part 2 )
Yvette: Claudia, the fans find you absolutely dear and nice and would like to see with pleasure sometimes again more of you . Why do you appear so seldom on television?   Claudia: I never was a singer or something like that ...... for myself it is actually quite normal. Then Alexander was born and I believe, we were  in a  phase of life where I saw my function  as a partner, so silly it may sound, classically in the nest construction. With all this stress it is also important , when Thomas comes home and finds anyhow a base. I find my role there more important, than to hold somewhere my face in the camera.  Astrid: One sees that you are very happy with each other and it is asked, when and whether there will be soon little brothers and sisters for Alexander? Or does the story with the rail still work??   Thomas: (smiles and then means quite drily): Darling, for laying eggs you are responsible!!   Claudia: So I think how you have properly noted all, we are a really happy family and I believe we are in love ......, well (laughs). Now I am  honestly ...... Of course one loves each other and butterflies in one’s stomach are still there, they come on vacation, in the everyday life they get lost a little. Everybody has taken his role in this three-way connection and I believe that with 2 children it is more difficult. So you want to watch me more on  TV ...... with 2 children this is not possible for this at all. One child  goes to the school, the other in the kindergarten. This always costs time and strength and this must also just be there. If I live then even more another life, because my man is on the move a lot, I decide, in any case, in our current  phase of life ,where we still are very happy with each other, rather for a togetherness.  Yvette: The TA-year 2006 was stamped by two quite special events. For the first your participation in the Grand Prix preselection of the Eurovison Song Contest and to the other your publication of your new album. Let us remain at the Grand Prix – as we all know, your were not allowed ,as a second-placed, to go to Athens. Could you imagine yourself, once again to come in contact with the Grand Prix?   Thomas: To sing again there, I could not fancy at the moment. This was a very hard time. That is not only that one has samples during this day or sometimes 2-3 days before, you all  had got it partly what happened with the private and family life ...... it did not exist any more. Quite specifically working, looking foward to one event, this was wasting forces very much and then for me it went even further with promo for my new album. This went over seamlessly into each other. At the moment I would not take part in a preselection of the GP any more. I am glad, actually, that I not have been in Athens. It is for an artist, who takes  his occupation and his music seriously very much, quite frustrating that the attention is laid more on show elements, than basically on the music. And what we may not forget, the GP has 40 years of history behind himself, it is, actually, a competition between composition and text. Today, however, it is no more song festival, it has become, actually, a show festival.There I do not see myselft. I would not like to invest 60-70 percent in show elements, that is for me the wrong address. This should do people who cannot sing, then they should do show. I see my quality and challenge in singing. Texas Lightning does, for example, place 15, there you have to imagine, I don’t want to comment about it. If TA would have done place Nr. 8, what would have released this in Germany (oh dear, the press). They maybe would have said, oh god Mr. Anders  only made place 8. However, with TL and place 15 it was OK. So I ask myself whether I must do this to myself: NO!!!  When NDR had asked for, I still thought: Why not? But you walk than in a kind of mealstrom, so can’t escape anymore, also when you want to. This does not work at all, also independently from the contracts. I was persuaded to have good chances and I still think, that my performance, as I have appeared there was not the reason for that I have done only place 2. , I have not sung and played wrong and haven’t delivered a stupid figure. The public taste was just another and now they just wanted TL. I would like to decide, in any case, for myself at the moment: Now I would not paticipate there any more.  Astrid: With your topical album "Songs Forever" you had surprised your fans very much and it had also partly splited the minds very much. Will there be in the form of "Songs forever" once more a studio album, but with own songs which have been written by yourself? Thomas: I do not know at the moment what will happen with the new album. At the end of January I will think about, which form or what should become it. I would like to say to "Songs forever” the following: Of course nobody come to me and say: " I found your album shit", many people came to me and say: "I found it quite fantastically". Evenwhile we were making the photos many fans have said: ”Please make again such an album. This is my favorite album and I find the album great.” But nobody has the courage to come to me and say that he finds the album lousy. I find such an album was simply important for me. I knew that I should not continue on basis from "This  time". I did not want to do simply a studio or keyboard produced pop music album because  I do not feel for myself like this any more. This is only one side of the medallion. The other side is that all songs mustn’t be only ballads, also electronic music can be very cadenced. But "Songs forever" was very important for me and this is, I believe, also sometimes permitted.  Often fans have the problem, that you already know from the MT-times, that they would have had with pleasure that YMHYMS comes every year over again new on the market. However, this doesn’t work. Nevertheless, one has YMHYMS, I don’t always need the same YMHYMS.I can remember everything, just who knows a lot of all the different fan forums, every MT album was the worst what we have ever put on the market. It got a caning a long time and than after 2 months came the first entries: "I must revise my entry, I have heard the album now 85,000 times and I must say that it is, nevertheless, a quite great album.”  So music needs time and I am an artist who must also give default and also an artist has to advanve himself. I can not go to my audience and say: "How do you believe, should I develop?” There we have a wrong world. I cannot do this. I must give default, then you may decide whether you like this or not. One must give me as an artist the possibility to try out something. And, nevertheless, "Songs forever" is not the end of the flagpole, which will be the last album of my life. I want to sing still many years and to experiment a lot.  Yvette: The fans love among other things ballads of you, other  fans would like to hear pop- and-house elements or groovy hits on which one can dance . Nevertheless, it is an impossible undertaking  to adapt to the wishes of the fans. How do you handle this?  Thomas: I do not handle with it, at all. There we are exactly at that point what I just said, I have to make the decisons, how I feel and how I see myself as an artist and also how I would like to see developed myself. The composer who accommodates all these things in a song that has to be born probably, because this does not work at all. You can see that every taste is different. The album will not be released this year, maybe we will possibly get the chance on the next fan club party  to experience a quite exclusive hightlight. I do not know yet! Now “Songs forever " was not exceeding successful, but I also needed time to analyse for myself what might have been the reason and to come to grips with this . If one celebrates only results,life  is always easy, but one simply needs time. I make every half a year analyses of myself and the interesting in it is, that there is a discrepancy between acceptance and between sales. There are many fans who say: "It is quite great what Thomas Anders is doing" which have not bought the album. There we come to another point where one asks himself whether maybe the PR  was guilty ... maybe we should have done it differently. There are a lot of inquiries from Germany, just also from the gala and event area which say: "We would like to book with pleasure Thomas Anders, but please with his new program " what was absolutely funny for me because I ask myself: " The new program, where is  the old program? " But the people differentiate between NEW and OLD. MT is old, this Sinto pop and new is the hand-done music.  Astrid: Is it conceivable, that you do a mixed album which contains different elements, e.g., pop, jazz, acoustics or also ballads?  Thomas: No, it must always have a line. I can exactly say what happens if I record  an album which has a few jazz elements, some pop and dance stories, then the media will critizise me all the time. Since then they ask themselves whether I want to open a groceries store or what does Anders want, otherwise? Unfortunately, it is in such a way that one must already go to a direction. Nevertheless, “Songs forever " was very much smoothy, but it doesn’t mean that I have to work only with live string players now. I would like to focus with the next album simply again on great songs, they can also be quick with pleasure and be rhythmical, but the songs have to stand again in the foreground. What is frustrating me in the pop music a little bit, is that  the song ist second-rate. The voice and the artist are second-rate, too. It counts the production which is possibly apparelled with the newest gags and alienations and who has this , is right in the first rows. One must change this simply sometimes and I am confident that I have the voice to change it. I can make it easy and would also like to do it basically. It is  no ballad album, for guarantee, but I has to find my musical middle, I will first find it on the  new album. Question from the audience: When will you sing again more songs of MT? Thomas: I am singing in all my shows MT. In Arad in the New Year's Eve I have sung of about 70 minutes approx. 55 minutes MT. In Heilbronn where I will appear in a small theatre, what will be very intimate, because only approx. 180-200 persons are able to get in, there will be a 90-minute-concert and I also will play songs of MT. It is different as in Zweibrücken. In Zweibrücken I had an eight men band and in Heilbronn we will  be five or four. It is an in-between of "Songs forever" and Zweibrücken, something  in the middle.
