Much is happening in the Anders house

- We ask what happens behind the scenes -

April 2005- right now it seems quiet around Thomas. Even though we see him on "Best of Formel 1" every Wednesday, some fans are getting a little impatient because we still have to wait a while for music related news from him.  We wanted to know what he is doing and what he is working on.  Thomas responded to our questions.  Read here what he’s up to and what we can expect in the coming months!

Topic: "Doris Hartwich-Collection and advertisement"

TAO-Web team: Hello Thomas! Let’s start with a current project.  You modeled this year’s spring and summer collection for designer Doris Hartwich and presented her designs in a fabulous collection book. The fans loved the photos. How did you come to work with Doris Hartwich?

THOMAS:
Hello everyone! I met Doris Hartwich at an event. We were introduced and she said, “I’d like to have you as well.”  At first I had no idea what she meant.  But once I had seen her collection book, I became very interested. Originally, I was slated to do the fall/winter collection 2004/2005, but I was too busy in the spring of ‘04.  So it turned into the summer collection, which I prefer because I always long or summer.

TAO-Web team:
How did you enjoy this work?  Did you feel it was easier or harder compared to other shoots you have done?

THOMAS:
It’s at once easier and more difficult.  It’s easier because the focus of a fashion shoot is not constantly on the face, but on the clothes. It’s more difficult because the shoot lasts much longer than a cover shoot. A cover shoot usually lasts 5-6 hours. The fashion shoot lasted for two days between 11 to 12 hours each day.  Which meant, I got up at 6:30 a.m., showered, make-up, drive to the location.  And on day two, I was “treated” to 4 showers and 4 times hair and make-up.

TAO-Web team:
Were you able to pick the outfits that you presented in the DH collection?  Did you have specific ideas?

T
HOMAS: I did not pick the attire.  The collection book had to contain the clothes that are ordered most often.

TAO-Web team:
Did you like the clothes that you modeled? Would you wear them yourself?

THOMAS: I selected a few things: the velour leather shirt, the orange linen shirt, and pants that are not in the book.

TAO-Web team: Among the fans everyone has a favorite photo from the collection. Which of the photos do you like best?

THOMAS: My favorite photo is the one with the bulldog.  I used to have a bulldog, exactly the same kind of blue bulldog as in the photo.  The picture, by the way, was taken at 9:00 a.m. and it was only slightly cloudy.  The picture was later touched up with silver and so sustains that atmosphere.

TAO-Web team:
Could you imagine working in fashion?

THOMAS:
Why not?

TAO-Web team:  Or maybe as a spokesman for other products?  What would interest you?

THOMAS:
Currently several companies have offers out and there have been a few concrete talks, but I’m not giving any hints yet.

Topic:  "the future of his music"

TAO-Web team: At the last fan club party you spoke of wanting to switch to a new record label because you feel that “Na klar!” is not taking care of you artistically. Do you already have a new contract or are you still in the process of deciding?  And maybe you can give us a hint about the direction the new album will take.

THOMAS: The contract isn’t signed yet. We--D.H., the record company and I-- are working on themes. We really want to take the time that is needed.  I understand that the eager fans are finding the wait rather lengthy and a few are growing impatient, but the next album is simply supposed to be a “great album.” And that takes time.

TAO-Web team: In a past interview you mentioned having a dream of performing with a big band. Dreams should be made reality. Do you have any plans regarding this in the future?

THOMAS: I always have this idea with a big band in the back of my head and as soon as I see an opportunity I will turn it into a reality.

TAO-Web team: In April you were in concert with Bad Boys Blue in New York and Chicago. How did this come together and which program did you perform?

THOMAS: I had no idea that BBB would perform.  That wasn’t in my contract.  All I knew is that I would be the main act and would perform a 80 minute show. The program consisted of MT and TA.

TAO-Web team: In the past you performed abroad.  Are more performances/concerts planned in other countries?  Do you feel you are successful as an artist in other countries?

THOMAS: I think I’m simply “exotic” in other countries and consequently interesting for the concert market.  I am successful in Germany as well.  These days you can’t just measure success by the charts or units sold.  Besides that, the sales figures are sobering.  Being number one on the singles chart with 5000 is hard enough. I went my own way on different levels in the past two years and have been successful doing so.

TAO-Web team: Speaking of foreign concerts and after the brilliant concert you gave at the fan club party, many German fans want to know when you will do concerts (maybe even at smaller venues, like a club tour) in Germany.  How difficult is it to make that a reality?

THOMAS:
It all depends on the new label’s strategy.  It just has to make sense, like everything in life.  I’d definitely be into it! A club tour too. Just play for an audience and win them over.  But I can already hear the media:  “With Modern Talking he filled huge halls and today he plays for a thousand people!”  All of a sudden it is presented in a negative light, never mind that the times have fundamentally changed.
